About the Role
The Lecturer: Design and Technology Education is responsible for the development, delivery and coordination of courses within the Academic Unit’s undergraduate and postgraduate programs and contributing to the Academic Unit’s research agenda. The position will contribute independently and as part of a team to support the Academic Unit’s teaching and research outcomes and to carry out activities to maintain and develop their scholarly, research and/or professional activities with a specific focus on Design and Technology Education.

Education Futures is home to two world class research centres namely, the Centre for Research in Educational and Social Inclusion (CRESI) and Centre for Change and Complexity in Learning (C3L). Within UniSA Education Futures, UniSA College is responsible for the university’s pre-degree and pathway programs for Australian students, and implements the University’s Participation Strategy, aimed at increasing the number of students from a low socio-economic background enrolled in the University.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop, coordinate and deliver courses on campus, offshore, online or via other appropriate methods
- Contribute to research and scholarly activity, independently and/or as a member of a team, which results in quality publications in both academic refereed and professional journals and the presentation of conference papers and seminars
- Create, foster and enhance national and international links with relevant field of education, business, university and community bodies that assist the advancement of University and Academic Unit objectives
- Coordinate, supervise and mentor an academic team to ensure the effective delivery of course
Essential Skills and Experience
- PhD qualification aligned with Design and Technology Education
- Skills in contemporary teaching, learning and assessment with excellent ability and experience to undertake high quality teaching activities that reflect pedagogical, student and professional contemporary needs and standards
- Demonstrated high quality teaching outcomes with evidence of a strong commitment to continuous improvement of teaching practice and learning outcomes, in on-campus and online settings
- Demonstrated commitment to establishing a program of research that demonstrates growing publication record, and experience in the preparation of research grant applications
- Experience working with Schools, teachers and professional bodies as research partners and in the delivery of professional development
